Everyday Entertaining Tips for a Charcuterie Board

OK, how many times have you showed up to a party and the charcuterie board steals the show? It's amazing how cheese, baguettes and a fig spread can draw so much attention. Charcuterie boards are a brilliant crowd pleaser. They also seem like a daunting task, but fear not, I have pulled together some tips and tricks to help you make a legit charcuterie board for your next party.

1. Find the right vessel. Find a flat plattertray or bread board that you can use to serve the appetizer on based on the size of the crowd.

2. Select a variety of meats and cheeses. Select mild, medium and bold flavors for the meat and a mix of soft and hard cheeses. You can't go wrong with Trader Joe's for selection.

3. Add seasonal fruit. Fruit adds color to the charcuterie and is a sweet pairing to the salty flavors.

4. Add a spread. Friends will tell you, I love fig spread. It's a staple in my pantry. It also adds a layer of complexity to the salty flavors of a cheese. I think it's a charcuterie must.
